Church of San Nicolò dei Mendicoli

Tucked away in one of the quietest corners of Dorsoduro, this small church is one of the oldest and most atmospheric in Venice. Once standing on an island inhabited by fishermen, it still retains its simple, genuine charm far from the usual tourist routes.

Its Romanesque structure, wooden decorated ceiling and lesser-known artworks tell a story of devotion and tradition rooted in the lives of the city's humble past. At the entrance, a statue of Saint Nicholas welcomes visitors holding three golden spheres – symbols of generosity and protection.

Opening hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 10:00 – 12:00 and 15:00 – 17:30

  • Sundays and public holidays: 9:00 – 12:00

Note: Hours may vary. We recommend checking before your visit.

A perfect stop for those looking to discover the quieter, more soulful side of Venice
